INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
Several countries have issued regulations in relation to the maximum limits of pollutants that must be present in water intended for human consumption.
Some international organizations have composed their own guidelines in relation to these needings.
The World Health Organization, a branch of 'ONU dedicated to the promotion and awareness of the importance of human health, has prepared a comprehensive document:

- Guidelines for drinking water quality
Europe too has issued its own directives in the field of human health, among which the most important is the 98/83 / EC, issued in 1998.
This was then implemented at national level by the various EU countries.
